The Center on Law and Security is pleased to announce the release of The Accountability Papers Project, an easily accessible database of documents and hearing transcripts relevant to post-9/11 policies in the United States.
The first searchable category consists of those records related to interrogation, detention and torture.
As a window into the constantly growing document collection, the Center has created a comprehensive search engine, annotated by topic. This allows users to perform both substantive and text-based searches. Categories of analysis provide insight into the following: chronology, the individuals and agencies involved in developing and implementing the policies at issue, the evolving arguments on each side of the debates, allegations of illegality and the defenses to them, and inconsistent or conflicting narratives.
The Center on Law and Security hopes that The Accountability Papers Project will enable researchers to gain a thorough understanding of this important episode in the nation’s history.
